Lomo LC-A+ Gold

The new limited edition of the lomo LC-A. I'm personally not too keen on it! It doesn't look like real gold although I'm not sure if it's just the photo but I would really like to see one. I do really like the small detaining though but not a huge fan of the giant leather feature.

I posted this up a while ago when I was looking at Industrial Facilities product range. I'm looking to use a similar USB feature to what was used in this LaCie product. I want to build the USB cable into the camera to make it more neat and tidy rather than having to supply a cable for the user. It will, hopefully, also provide a nice interaction for the user.

570 Megapixel Digital Camera

"Fermilab are building a massive 750 megapixel camera, which features a total of 74CCD sensors, and it is being built by a team of astronomers and particles physicists.

The camera is being built to take photos of the universe and to see whether dark energy exists and exactly what it is.

The 570 megapixel is costing a massive $35 million, and when it is completed it will be mounted to a telescope in Chile, and it will be used over a five year period to map more than 300 million galaxies."

Disney Pixar's UP

Last week I watched UP, classing it as essential research for my project, thinking that it would give me some inspiration for my project. But, as much as I liked it as a movie, I love the book even more. Last week, in Waterstones, I came across a book called 'The Art Of UP' by Tim Hauser (Author) and Pete Docter (Foreword). The illustrations and drawing style behind the movie was more inspirational to me than the movie itself. Here's a couple of images from the book, which I hope to buy soon.

George Eastman

I found this quote a while back when I went to see the Points Of View Photography exhibition in the Bristish Library, London. It's from George Eastman, who founded the Eastman Kodak Company, and I thought that it pretty much sums up todays photography culture.

"We are starting to make photographyan everyday affair, to make the camera as convenient as the pencil."

Balloon Project By David Trawin

This is a project by David Trawin which is similar to my final year project. I really like the clear shots that were taken in wide open spaces. When writing about his project he said that many people were interested by the project and that people supplied email addresses so that their photo could be sent to them. This fills me with a little more confidence about my project but I still have a lot of work to do.

The Idea!!

Thought that it would be time to post what my final idea is to make sense of what my play posts are about.

So here it is, the initial idea for my final year project!!

The balloon rises up with a camera inside it. This is then popped, the camera falls to the ground caturing images as it does so.

The idea is to bring back a sense of fun in photography. With digital making photography easy and clean, everyday photography is being taken granted of and the fun and magic that it used to have is being lost. Capturing images that you're not in control of and at various angles, will also capture the manipulation of light as it falls to the ground. Potential uses for this type of product would be at festivals and funfairs.

So the next couple of months I will be playing with this idea and see where it takes me.
